In addition to a wide product range, Dunlaw Engineering have received numerous requests for a bespoke or unique design, which has necessitated considerable effort covering concept, detailed design and subsequent testing. A recent example was for a buoyancy aid to assist installation of a subsea wellhead protection frame which started out in a PU/Synatic material and eventually resulted in a series of aluminium tanks with control valves to ensure a more measured descent onto the seabed. Clamping systems have ranged from straight forward 1" dia cable onto tendons to 12 " risers onto legs and conductions, with the latter demanding extensive design and load testing.

A 2.5km PU and steel shield was designed to withstand impact loads in excess of 200Kn without transferring the load onto a piggyback line in the golden eye and Atlantic Cromarty projects. Full scale load tests and trencher roller trials were part of the rigorous programme to prove the system.
